Chris Weafer, Chief Strategist of URALSIB Capital was a speaker at the opening session of the conference, in which he gave a presentation “The Challenge of the Credit Crunch”, which expressed the strategist’s view on future economic scenarios and the energy markets, focusing on most relevant issues:

• How is the economic crisis feeding back into the industrial economy? Meeting the challenge of reduced demand for materials in the current economic situation
• Likely impact of ruble devaluation on imports/exports
• How the current economic situation may affect financing of the industrial sector and infrastructure projects

The conference took place on 30-31 March in Moscow and was attended by all the key players in the Russian and international coal industry.
